Steamboat Springs Skate Park
Its ON! Steamboat Springs Colorado is beginning to take shape! By the time you are reading this, concrete will be placed! The city is working closely with Team Pain to prep the site for public use… The entire park property itself is a complete new addition to the steamboat springs park system. With the Skatepark being the first element in the park, there is no doubt that this park will immediately become very popular.
Roxborough Skate Park
Roxborough Skate Park is not open to the public yet, but with special permission Local photographer Cameron Bowser sent us some photos of local skaters enjoying the new Roxborough Skate Park. What’s up with the 8 wheeled board and umbrella guy??
BACK TO THE OLD SCHOOL
Back To The Oldschool is an annual contest held at the Antwerp Belgium Skate Park. This year’s contest was a huge success and brought out big names like Lester Kasai, Sasha Steinhorst, Yoyo Schulz, and Stefan Albert. Check out these photos taken by Wouter Struyf.

Steamboat Springs Skate Park
Our concrete crew is moving right along to their next project, located where? you guessed it, COLORADO! The city of Steamboat Springs to be exact. This is the first week on site and will be completed mid November.
Roxborough Skate Park Completed!
Roxborough Skate Park is now finished! This park features a “Roman” style pool and a flow bowl all complete with pool block. There is a nice street/flow course complete with multi level quarter pipes hand rails and ledges along with some other unique features. Check the photos to see for yourself and come back soon to find out when the grand opening date will take place.
SURF EXPO AUGUST 2009
Thanks to everyone who attended the August 09 Surf Expo. The skating that went down was truly amazing and for the second installation of our SkateArt at the SURF EXPO, this show was a huge success and everyone had a good time doing what they do best.
Each of the three days there were pro demos from the guys at Eastern Skateboard Supply and those guys were throwing down some hammers on all of the SkateArt pieces. We built a custom centerpiece just for this show which ended up being aptly named the “Thing – a – majig” courtesy of Keith Baldassare. Justin Brock was killing the Thingamajig with huge melon grabs and a buttery 360 flip up and over to flat. Chad Bartie Heelflipped the thingamajig all the way to flat and he launched some really high ollies out of the thingamajig. Brandon Westgate pulled an huge Ollie straight up and over the big manual ledge and even 180ed it, simply amazing! Ronnie Creager and James Craig can flip in, and flip out of any ledge or many trick you can think of! They were getting so tech, it was amazing. Corey duffel skated a lil bit, but he actually got hurt playing JT Aultz in a flatground game of skate, so didn't skate that much on Saturday, but he was killin it on Friday. Speaking of JT Aultz, super nice guy, and has Backside Nosegrinds over the rainbow ledge on lock! He can also get tech with a kickflip nose manny nollie flip out on the yellow slant ledge. Gareth Stehr was another thingamajig fan. He could backside 180 it all the way to flat every try! He never messed up once, and he also launched an airwalk to flat as well!
With some cash in hand and some product to give away, we held a couple best trick and best run contests to bring out the truly skilled and help them out with some cash! Local up and comer Bert Wootton won the Friday contest on the yellow slant ledge with a nose many up and around to switch many down and backside flip out, amazing! Another local Jonny Scieanneux stuck a clean Frontside Five – 0 to Frontside Bigspin out on the Wavy bench winning himself first place in one of the best truck contests but that wasn’t enough and Johnny pulled off a Lipslide to Nosegrind to Lipslide on the Sad bench winning in another best trick contest. David Khan completed a winning run which took place on the BIG ledge and the small manny pad with a Frontside Bluntslide on the Big ledge to Nollie Heel 5-0 on the small manny pad.

2009 SURF EXPO
August 20 – 22nd are the dates set for the 2009 Surf Expo where Team Pain will be featuring their brand new line of SkateArt! You will also get a chance to watch Eastern Skate Supply’s pro lineup, including Corey Duffel,
Brandon Westgate, Joey Pepper and Chany Jeanguenin, Chad Bartie, Gareth Stehr, JT Aultz, Justin Brock, and more. The demo times will take place at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m on Team Pain’s SkateArt and while the demos aren’t going on, Surf Expo attendees are invited to skate the park which will be featuring new designs and a much larger course layout than last year’s show. We will also be giving away prize money and other goodies for anyone who is killin it.

Congratulations to Chris Berry from the concrete crew, who just had a baby girl! Violet Annabelle Berry was born on June 28th at 9:05am, and she is a beautiful 7lbs. 2.5 ounces.

A few weeks ago the Globe crew took a trip to Team Pain's latest wood creation, Epic skatepark in Rocklin, California. The main reason for the visit was to put the finishing touches on a team section for United By Fate episode 5. The trip was stacked with a heavy crew: Chris Haslam, Mark Appleyard, Ryan Decenzo, Jake Duncombe, Matt Mumford, Luan Oliveira, Louie Lopez, Greg Lutzka, David Gonzalez and multiple filmers and photographers. VANCOUVER IS ON IT!
While most cities in the U.S have been working towards banning skateboarding on the city streets. Mayor Gregor of Vancouver has recognized a national holiday known to skateboarders worldwide, Go Skateboard Day which falls on the 21st of June apparently was not good enough for Mayor Gregor Robertson who has extended this holiday to begin June 15th and run through the 22nd. OVIEDO SKATE PARK GETS SOME SKATE ART!
If you have been to Oviedo Skate Park here in Florida lately, you will notice something new… Skate Art! Tim Payne was kind enough to donate 4 pieces to the park and the kids have been going crazy over them! Check out the photos of Oviedo’s own Johnny Scianneaux tearing it up.

NEW TAMPA GRAND OPENING VIDEO!

HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY!Florida Bowl Riders Cup
This year’s Florida Bowlriders Cup was a hit! Consisting of 3 separate contests located first at the Kona Bowl, then at the brand new New Smyr na Beach skate park, and the final contest was held at the Cocoa Beach skate park. This Contest attracts some of the best bowl skaters in the world of bowl skating. The contest is separated into 5 sectors; Pro, Masters, Open AM, Womens and Groms, and everyone was killing it on the Team Pain concrete! For video CLICK HERE!

Skate Park of Tampa Vert Ramp
The wood crew has completed giving the Tampa Red Bull Vert Ramp a face lift with a brand new layer of Skatelite, a shade wall, stairs and a few other things that brought this ramp back to life.
NEW TAMPA SKATE PARK UPDATE
The concrete crew has been working hard in Tampa, Florida, building the New Tampa skate park. This park will feature many unique elements for both transition and street skaters alike. Check out the photos below, and keep checking for the grand opening date!
NEW SMYRNA SKATE PARK NOW OPEN!
The New Smyrna Beach skate park grand opening was held on Saturday February 28th, bringing hundreds of skaters to the park. Everyone was having a great time and this park is FREE!!... a free skate park in Florida, what??!!!!! The park features a super fast and smooth as glass flow course along with one of our new SkateArt pieces, donated by The Portfolio Project skate shop. The park also features a concrete bowl complete with 100% pool coping and pool tiles that were broken in with rippers like Tim Johnson and Mike Barnes. Lance Spiker, Tony Walsh , Curt Baker, Adam Calderwood, Chris Berry and Brett Turner from the concrete crew showed up to skate the park with a public crowd.
TEAM PAIN BAD BRAINS MEETING!
It's very rare that the Team Pain wood and concrete crews are in the same location at the same time. With the wood crew doing some work at SPOT and the concrete guys finalizing the New Tampa skate park, Mr. Payne had to take the opportunity to get the whole clan together. Enter the "Bad Brains" show for some serious male bonding and everyone had a great time!

BENNETT D.I.Y. BOWL
While the concrete crew was working in Colorado Springs building the Memorial Skate Park, our crew volunteered their spare time to work on the City of Bennett, Co Skate Park. With the help of Tim & Ashley Mott, our crew and involvement from the locals, they were able to construct a sick concrete bowl complete with pool coping and tile with enough funds left over to build a street course which is in the design phase as we speak. EPIC SKATE PARK: ROCKLIN, CA
Just north of Sacramento, in the town of Rocklin CA, is where our wood crew has been working hard, building one of our biggest indoor wood skate parks to date. EPIC Skate Park is definitely something worth traveling to if you are not lucky enough to live nearby. This park is a real masterpiece, with a huge street course featuring some very unique designs and incorporating both wood and rock hard concrete elements that really add that genuine “street” feel which every street skater thrives on. With 40,000 square feet to work with, we had the opportunity to also build a super wide mini ramp with multiple extensions and a wood bowl with an amazing design featuring multiple round wall pockets, seamless escalators, a transition to banked wall extension and a round roll in. The entire park is layered with top quality Birch Wood that really makes the park look nice and bright! Without a doubt, you need to add EPIC Skate Park to your list of travels in 09. NSB SKATE PARK- New Smyrna Beach, FL
We have been really busy through the end of 2008 with the completion of not only the 40,000sq ft Memorial Skate Park in Colorado. New Smyrna FL now has a place to ride with the NSB Skate Park. This park is extremely smooth and fast, featuring a sick bowl complete with pool coping of course and an innovative flow course featuring some unique designs. Check out the photos and see for yourself!

EPIC SKATE PARK - SACRAMENTO, CA
While our concrete crew has been super busy, we can’t forget about the wood crew out in Sacramento CA right now building a huge 40,000sq ft park in a brand new building, with enough room to cater towards both hardcore street and transition skaters alike. Featuring an extremely unique street course, combining both wood and concrete elements, a bowl with some super fast lines an insane design and so much more that words alone would not give justice. TEAM PAIN SkateArt at the SURF EXPO
Fridays Skate event had the biggest turnout of all 3 days. With the help of all the talented skaters and even the crowd, we were able to hold multiple best trick contests on five different pieces of SkateArt.
Starting it out with simplicity on the Concrete Manual Pad where some crazy technical tricks were going down. "Little John" killed it with his Switch heel to Switch back tail winning him a $50.00 hooters gift card, get this guy some buffalo wings! Next, moving on to the unique Zebra Striped abstract Jersey barrier, TJ Sparks was the only one grinding the coping from end to end and won the contest with a Nosegrind Stalefish up and out. Freddie Tan was also killing it, with backside ollies into the tight transistion:
Then we held a contest on the blue launch ramp manual pad where you had to Ollie up to immediately launch off the end. The winner was an un-named skater with a Backside 180 late flip winning him Tickets for 4 to Ripley’s believe it or not.
After that we moved on to the Yellow curved bench which also escalated from low to high. Tim Payne took $40 out of his pocket and put it in a hat to pass around the crowd and ended up with $185 with the help of the spectators! Aaron Collier took the first $80 with a sick Frontside Smith grind from the low end, all the way through with a Frontside flip out the high end. With $105 left, the rest of the money was given out to some tricks done on the Diamond shaped ledge.
The last contest of the day was on the wavy red bench at 14’ long. But that didn’t faze Timmy Knuth from shutting the spot down with a Kickflip Crook grinding all 14’ and ending with a Bigspin out. Timmy went home with tickets for 4 worth $300 to the Pirates Dinner Adventure Show, $25 bucks and a backpack full of goodies.
For the Saturday show, We held a best photo contest where each skater took three attempts to capture the sickest photo for cash. Rippers like Freddie Tan, TJ sparks, Timmy Knuth, Matt Henry, AJ Kohn, Cody Eurich, JJ from ONEskatebords, Kevin Sikes, Dalton Dern, Alex Sergente, Kaason Clark, Billy Rivera and Chad Tepper were all killing it!
Friday was definitely an Epic show and we want to thank all the skaters and spectators for the talent and support!

This past weekend, the January Surf Expo was a hit, even without the mini ramp. This year we took this as an opportunity to present our newest line of SkateArt, featuring raw street elements, hand crafted from high density concrete and or steel.

SURF EXPO 2009!
Team Pain will be presenting their newest product line for the first time at the January 09 Surf Expo. Bringing a completely new feel to the show with some unique and artistic structures made from both hand poured concrete or solid steel! If you want to be one of the first to experience these new pieces, all you need to do is make it to the Expo and the course will be open to anybody who wants to skate.
